Champagne Life – Saatchi Gallery, 23/1/16

An interesting visit in as much as having the experience of walking around a gallery rammed with rich loud tourists that were treating the gallery more as a bar than space of contemplation.  Did it detract from the artwork?  Yes.  Is it because I am old? Question that…possibly.  It was revealing to me that I was unable to connect with most of the artwork because of the noise.  There was an element within the space that was missing, and that was the space for contemplation and inner reflection.

What did I engage with?

Suzanne MccLelland 'Frank (the chemist) Ideal Proportions' 2013

Jelena Bulajic 'Ljubica' 2012

Both large, mixed media.  the first artist – contemporary abstraction, texturally interesting, conceptual ideas re connection to data as humans

second image – engaged with this artist’s work on application of method.  Enormous portraits done with meticulous choice of materials and attention to detail.  They don’t feel flat or tight despite the realism of the images. Lovely inclusion of areas of colour, really clever choices made in the composition and materials choice

  1. I’ve been browsing online greater than 3 hours nowadays,
yet I never found any attention-grabbing article like yours.
It’s beautiful value sufficient for me. In my opinion, if all site owners and bloggers made good content material
as you probably did, the internet will likely be a
lot more helpful than ever before.
